What causes low back pain?

Low back pain is a complex issue, but what really causes it?

Do you have Low Back? Know this: a number of things can cause low back pain! Commonly, it can be from an intervertebral disc, OR small joints in the spine called facet joints. Muscle pain associated with low back pain is common, but mostly more of a symptom than a cause.

A thorough assessment by our Physiotherapists is the key to identifying the causes of your low back pain. Our full body assessment is our way of assessing all the structures of the low back, your movement and pain levels. We use this to determine your particular injury, and what underlying problems or areas of weakness may be contributing.

If you have Low Pain and are living in Brisbane, book an Assessment today!

Treating low back pain

Depending on what the cause of your pain is, treatment will vary. This is unique to each case of low back pain, even though some conditions are more common than others.

A constant in your treatment journey at MD health will be Clinical Exercise. Utilising pilates reformers and other equipment, our Physios will guide you through specific exercises to help your low back pain in the long term. These exercises may involve strengthening your core stabilisers, your low back muscles themselves, and even your hip muscles and gluteals.

Our Physios will often do a combination of Hands-On treatment and Clinical Exercise, to help treat your low back pain.
